Hulk Transforming is "Addiction Problem"

One of the main mysteries for fans when it comes to Marvel's The Avengers has always been whether we would see a Hulk who was out of control, and a threat to the public and his teammates. A few things have since been cleared up and from what we now know the not so jolly green giant will pretty much be a team player. Or will he? It's clear he will ultimately fight with the team in the end, but Mark Ruffalo confirms that he will definitely still be a reluctant addition, and cause a few problems along the way!

Mark R:  “you wake up after a blackout and you did all this f—ed up shit. Oh God, what did I do? And so we were talking about it like that, actually. At the beginning of The Avengers, “[Banner] starts like he’s sober in a weird way. He’s started a whole new life when we find him, and it’s cool. Things don’t stay that way, of course."

The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd , Samuel L. Jackson and will be released in the US on May 4, 2012 and in the UK on April 26, 2012.

Spiderman Confirmed for Avengers Cameo!

"As we all know, the studio and Joss Whedon have kept ‘The Avengers‘ movie plot pretty much under wraps. Aside from director Whedon letting us know that the perspective will be from Chris Evans Captain America, which makes sense, everything else has been quiet until now. Empire and EW pretty much have the lock on exclusive images for all the big superhero movies and here’s more of the latest images. Nothing earth shattering, but Marvel President Kevin Feige has his say and clears up some rumors.

We’ll be getting higher-rez scans, but this gives you a few more look since it’s been a couple weeks since the last ones hit. Speculation has been rampant if one of the original Avengers from the comic books will make an appearance or just a cameo. Spider-man will be dropping in, but just for a look quick before you miss him cameo. It would be a little off putting if Spider-man was in the film before his movie comes out. With the new ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, they have to adjust audiences to Andrew Garfield along with the new take on the Peter Parker story so the cameo is a nice reminder, as if we’ll need that when that marketing machine hits full force."

The Avengers Movie Synopsis

Starring: Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgard
Directed by: Joss Whedon

Armin's Top Picks for 2011 (Worst 5 Games)

5.Shadow Harvest: Phantom Ops
(Name says it all, originality was thrown out the window the moment a team was put together)

4.Transformers: Dark of the Moon
(the only thing worst then sitting through 2hr of Michale Bay mess is playing a game that feels like its exploding but not cuz its trying to be like the film but cuz is a bug filled atrocity to anything made, besides 3-1 of course)

3.X-Men: Destiny
Unlike First Class this is as much a reject as Toad, this is by far one of the worst Superhero games ever made, Activision really outdid them self here.

2.Thor: God of Thunder
By Odin thou shall not play this shit. unless ye want a death wish. If a game based on a film can be this bad and allowed to sell how far has the industry really come? PSP games look better, Atari games control better and ET had a better soundtrack. need i say more?

1.Duke Nukem
Throw shit at a wall in the opening sequence, realize it represents this game, now endure 6 more hours of shit in your face followed by more shit and a shit ending. top it off with a 10 year dev cycle and taring the Gearbox name.. No worries Pichford just put out Colonial Marines and Borderlands 2 and we will forget this mess.

Armin's Top Picks for 2011 (Top 5 Games)

well the year is over and let me roll out my Top Picks for various things.

Top 5 Video Games 2011!

5.Batman: Arkham City                                                                             What more can be said? Its Batman its a sequel to one of the best superhero games ever made (Arkham Asylum) but take the formula that worked, add in a open world, sprinkle in a ton of new villains, even crazier and harder Riddler's challenges, better boss fights, more combos, more game play, a better story.. i could go on and on here but its truly one of the best, only reason its not up higher is due to the 360 copy being Broken and messed up saves and a ton of them at that, and the PC version being a marketing and PR mess.

4.Portal 2
Not many if anyone can insult Valve or say anything bad especially when we got a masterpiece like Portal a few years ago. When they said Portal 2 is on the way there was not a single person who thought "well it will be better" after all how do you make a perfect game better? Why you have Valve make it and once again prove everyone wrong, the writing the voicing the levels the co-op the story and conclusion is some of the best this industry has ever seen and that has ever been put out. a MUST play for anyone who claims to be a "Gamer".
3.LA Noire                                                                                                 Well TAKE NOTES "Gamers" this game was NOT made by Rock Star your precious GTA and RDR Team it was made by Team Bondi and Rock Star came in at last min Published it and slapped their name on it. but other then that its a masterpiece and a true leap in gaming, the voice and facial capture is unrivaled, topped off with a great story that swings back to where it all starts, innovative game play and great characters its all here.

2.Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
if there is one game that can transcend the boundaries of Best Platform Exclusive and make the idiot 360 fanboys regret not buying a PS3 its this, sprinkle in Indiana Jone with the Industries best voice actors best graphics and top it off with a amazing single played, great co-op and awesome multilayer and Uncharted 3 is everything any video game fan should want in a game.

Game of the Year!
                                            1.The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

And honestly what else could take this spot? After Oblivion this series could only go up. now they took everything they learned from Oblivino and then Fallout and made game that was truly a masterpiece, branching quests, great voice acting, awesome graphics (PC Anyway) over 400hr of Content, quests that generate themselves, and more then one way to go about doing anything. Want to make a Orc who can sneak and kills with his fists. go ahead. If every developer aspired to be this good we would get less CoD's and Assassins Creeds and more Skyrims every year.

(Honorable mentions, Dead Space 2, SWTOR way 2 late in year to be considered, Forza 4, Gears 3, 40k Space Marine)

Turns Out Ghost Rider Sucked (are we really suprised)? (by Ben)

Hey guys, Ben here. Looks like its my first article on here, wow what a surprise. Anyways we are here to talk about how the new ghost rider turned out. I was one of the people in high hopes for this new ghost rider, mainly from the kick ass trailer and the duo director power of Mark Nevildene and Brian Taylor. I mean sure the scene with Ghost Rider pissing fire was dumb, but awesome at the same time. It just looked like a fun film  you could get in too. But i was getting worried when we have only gotten one teaser trailer and the film is being released in only 3 months, i mean sure we did get the kick ass poster. But thats all we got, if they were really sure this movie would be "good" then they would have shown more then the trailer and that 10 second clip at the scream awards. Plus to add more to the fact, it seems the directors had the right tone in mind, but not keeping the source materail, its really best to hire a director who understands or at the very least likes the character. You can't just get any guy to direct it or you get big pile of shits liek elecktra or catwoman. They felt the need to change the orgin for the reason of "we dont get it". Well then dont direct the damn movie. And finally the nail in the coffin, Nic Cage. Now Old Saint Nic isnt that bad of an actor, when he is in a supporting or somewaht comedic role. like in Kick Ass. Now thats one of the problems, if your main actors strength is making fun of himself then he shouldnt be in something serious like ghost rider. They already tried a movie with him making fun of himself,( and look how that movie turned out). Nic was one of the main complaints of the last movie, so hiring him again dosent make a whole lot of sense, i would understand if this was a sequel, but its not. Its essentilly a reboot, so hire someone better then old saint Nicholas (yes im making santa puns),  I would have expected Jason Staham, since he is in preety much every movie theve directed. Well thats my 2 cents. Will i still see the movie? Probably, but my expectations have been lowered from it being a good movie to a fun movie. I hope the rest of you can do the same.

DC Universe Online Free to Play "Better never then late"

"The next legend is you" that's the tag line for this game but once you set off into the world of Dc Universe the real tag line reveals the truth really is in fact "Limited in every way"

Now let me explain a bit I was in the Beta, when the game came out I bought it (PC) and bought the Lifetime subscription of $199.99 with promise of "Monthly content" 3 months after release we got our 1st DL content a few cheap maps about Catwoman. Who Cares? On day 1 there were over 700k users on PC alone fast forward 2 months the reported numbers were around 50k, The game was and IS a failure.

Let me Compare some things such as Content. A MMO services on content, games that have a Ton of content last longer, take for Example City of Heroes which recently went F2P That game even in its F2P mode offers over 40 cities, over 250 head pieces and over 2k armor pieces each with their own additions and addons, over 30 Raids and Large Dungeons to run some with up to 60 people and Huge boss fights, on the other hand DC offers you 2 cities, Very limited selection of Armor and super limited selection of powers and abilities. To top it off basic things like Electrical ground and other powers which were in games like Champions Online and City of Heroes on Day 1 are nowhere to be found.

Now lets get into Content some more in other MMOs a typical level 1 to Max out is usually 100hr+ and by then you will have seen about 70% of the game areas. In DC you got only 2 cities Gotham and Metropolis, you can level a character from 1 to Max in less then 20hr. And the real kicker is that you can do it without ever leaving your city.

Now I know that they are saying it was their intention from day 1 to go free to play. If that's the truth then the loyal fans such as myself were lied to and spit on with promises of special perks for being a lifer. Anyone who gets it now has access to the store as do I but I still need to pay for the stuff in it. So what do I actually get? "Legendary Status" the same thing anyone paying gets. If this is how I'm treated then why even bother?

Then there was the "MEGA SERVER" aka "No one is paying so merge all servers into 1" and guess what, population was still low. The monthly content they said would be coming has been moved to "2 times a year" the New DLC such as Green Lantern adds a few things like a new city but you can only go there in a linear mission.

In the end the reason I'm writing this article is to prevent people from making a mistake, DC Universe Online is like a trip to New York city its fun but not somewhere you want to live, it's dirty, smelly, and full of cracks and false promises in every direction. So before you take the 18gb download dive and expect the adventure of a lifetime just remember there are other free games that offer 900% more content and don't lie to you every chance they get!

Abe Sapien: The Devil Does Not Jest (2-part miniseries) Review

Story by: Mike Mignola and John Arcudi
Art by:  James Harren
Colors by: Dave Stewart
Letters by: Clem Robins
Cover Art by: Dave Johnson

Doug Jones as Abe Sapien
There’s a lot to praise when it comes to the miniseries “Abe Sapien: The Devil Does Not Jest.” The artwork is fantastic, the writing brings the characters to life, the pacing of the entire story doesn’t rush you through or bog you down, and the list could go on. But there are two things about this particular arc that should suck you right in if you’ve ever wanted to check out a Dark Horse title.

First, and I think most impressive, is that if the only thing you know about the universe of Hellboy is from the movies, then you are already well-equipped to dive right into the story. This isn’t some alternate continuity (more of an off-shoot of it) and there’s no need to go hunting down rogue issues of B.P.R.D. to know what’s going on. Secondly, this arc is only two issues long. It’s just a really good horror story being told really well.

Issue 1:
The first page shows Abe being chewed on by creatures that look like maggots the size of bulldogs. It cuts back to B.P.R.D headquarters in 1985 where Abe is visited by, Peter, the grandson of Garver Van Laer, an author on demonology. Garver mysteriously disappeared in the 1930’s but Peter claims to have a lead on his whereabouts and thought Abe would like to take the case. The case leades to Peter’s eccentric Uncle Turner who lives in the Maine lake house that Garver last lived in. It’s non-stop action and great pacing up until the final pages where Abe discovers the corpse of a gigantic demon in the basement before getting knocked out cold by a grotesque creature wearing a dress.

Issue 2:
Word of trouble at the lake house reaches B.P.R.D. headquarters and Hellboy accompanies Sal Tasso at the request of Professor Bruttenholm. The story then cuts back to the lake house where we find out the meaning of the opening page of issue #1. Abe is coaxed into waking up by the ghost of Garver who fills in the holes of the lake house mystery. Here we find out the origin of the demon corpse, the identity of the creature wearing a dress, and why Garver was never seen from anyone ever again. The dress-clad creature had destroyed all the vehicles outside leaving Abe and the sheriff trapped. The showdown between Abe and the creature is action-packed and ends gruesomely just as help arrives.

Review
If there’s one thing that this miniseries accomplishes that the movie does not is showing the physical abilities of Abe. Sure, he’s a smart guy and kind of the bookworm of the B.P.R.D. but he’s also fully capable of kicking some serious ass. He can take and throw punches, so much so that Hellboy was never even worried about him. In Hellboy 2, he locks himself in a safe when a swarm of pixies is released. If there were any doubts that Abe Sapien could hold his own in a paranormal throwdown, “The Devil Does Not Jest” puts them to rest.

The story doesn’t rely to heavily on just the writing or just the art. The reader’s eyes move exactly where Mignola, Arcudi, and Harren want them to move. The result is a story that could have been an entertaining short horror film but works so much better as a comic. There are moments in which the pacing might feel like it’s dragging but I then realized it was like some of the best scenes in The Thing. You feel yourself slowly moving through the lake house with Abe, rushing only when the action calls for it. And when the action does finally come it whips by without you missing a single detail in the art.

The art, by the way, is fantastic. It’s simultaneously grotesque and clean, but the unsung hero is Dave Stewart who did the colors for this miniseries. Colors seem to pop without looking like someone got carried away with the contrast on Photoshop. Just enough color is drained from flashbacks to let you know when flashbacks start and end.

Of the few criticisms, the opening page of the first issue seems out of place. While I get that it was a flashback scene, it isn’t until you get to the second issue that you discover when that full-page shot is taking place in the storyline. It was a pretty grave mistake to make right off the bat with the first page of an otherwise great story. Other than that, the non-linear narrative really worked for the rest of the series.

Some might argue that the scene with Hellboy and Sal was totally unnecessary, but I think it fit nicely. The bulk of the story plays out like a mystery with a Lovecraft kind of twist to it. There needed to be just a little lighthearted humor to release the tension building up in the lake house and I think it would have felt too forced had it come from anyone else than Hellboy. Also, the exchange between Hellboy and (a blood and guts covered) Abe in the last page was not only humorous but showed the type of relationship the two characters share.

Overall, there’s little in this miniseries I would change. Maybe being only two issues long is what was needed to keep the stories tight and the possibilities of plot holes small. If you’re a fan of horror and suspense in the vein of H.P. Lovecraft like I am, then you’ll thoroughly enjoy this miniseries. But if you’re not, it’s also a well executed story that let’s both the art and writing tell the story without dragging the other one behind. The trend in comic books now seems to be large stories with huge crossovers and/or events that demand huge media coverage. In a time like this, it’s refreshing to see a well made 2-issue miniseries and that’s exactly what “Abe Sapien: The Devil Does Not Jest” is.

Verdict:  9.5/10
